All Our boys once fully health tested are available at stud. We ask the following for our visiting bitches:
That the bitch is fully health tested. BVA Hip Scored (and ideally Elbow scored too) and Echo Doppler heart tested.
That the bitch is a good example of the breed both in body and temperament.
That the bitch is in good general health.
That she is a KC Reg unendorsed Newfoundland.
That she is fully Vaccinated and Wormed to date.
Our Stud Procedure
If you wish to use one of our boys at stud your first step is to contact us preferably by phone so we can discuss your requirements. We will ask about: 1/your bitches pedigree. 2/her expected time in Season. 3/ any previous litters. 4/her pros and cons (if any) to find out what qualities/characteristics you are looking for.
We can then discuss the right male for your bitch and for your requirements.
Once you have decided that you would like to use one of our boys, we suggest that you call us as soon as you notice she is bleeding. This can give us some time to plan with yourselves how you would like to proceed. You can either have your girl ovulation tested and bring her up for a covering then, knowing she is bang on and ready to mate. Alternatively you can bring her to us early on in her season and she can stay with us until she has had 2/3 successful mating's 48hrs apart. In this case we usually let both your girl and our boy dictate when she is ready. We require a handling fee of £250 from every bitch that comes to be covered. This covers her stay and feed and also the time it takes to cover her for the duration of her stay. This fee is non refundable. Once your bitch has had 2/3 successful coverings she is able to be collected. We will discuss with you optimum times for pregnancy scanning and having the Herpes Injection for your bitch. Once your bitch has delivered live puppies the stud fee is payable, usually no later than when the pups are 4 weeks old. We then release the KC details of the father so you can register your litter of puppies.
We fully understand that whelping a bitch down is not everyone's cup of tea. This may be your first litter of puppies or your bitches first litter. You or your employer may have an issue with taking a prolonged absence from work to fully care for a litter of pups. Or the idea is frankly scary to you! Here we can help.
We can have your bitch for the week before her first due date (to build up the necessary antibodies) until the pups are a week old. This takes the main pressure of whelping the bitch down off your hands. We can deliver the pups and once they all have an established routine and are all gaining weight well you can collect mum and babies and take it from there. We have over 20 years experience in breeding dogs and have a dedicated team to care for your bitch and her puppies. We offer around the clock (24hr a day) care and your bitch is never left alone with the pups. We have all the necessary equipment needed to whelp down giant breed dogs and have the full support of a great team of vets who trust in our judgement of when interfering with the whelping is a necessity.
If you require us to keep them for longer, that is no a problem either. We would recommend that they collected around 4 weeks old. This allows you to sell the pups from your own home and to enjoy having your litter of puppies.
In some cases Bitches and their puppies can spend the entire time from whelping to sales with us and we can help you to find loving forever homes for your puppies.
Prices will depend on how long you wish for your bitch to stay with us. You are required to supply all feed (or we can at cost) and you will be covering all veterinary expenses (all decisions will be made with your full consent).
If you are interested in your Bitch whelping down with us please let us know as soon as you can to ensure we have space.
